He has been elected as a member of Parliament in 2008.

He is serving as State Minister for Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs and a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for the Ministry of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs in the 9th Parliament.

In his Student life he joined in the Bangladesh Chatra League (Student front of Bangladesh Awami League);

He Participated in the National liberation War in 1971 as a Freedom Fighter and fought in the Dhaka city.

He served as an Additional Public Prosecutor & Public Prosecutor in the Dhaka sessions court since 1996-2001.

He served as a Joint Secretary of Dhaka City Awami League & Now he is Secretary-in-charge of Dhaka City Awami League.
